Materials

Main Ingredients

  • 1 kg chuck steak, cubed
  • 1 tsp finely chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 sticks cinnamon sticks
  • 2 pods cardamom pods, bruised
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 200 g plain yoghurt from a 200g carton
  • 125 ml oil
  • 3 medium onions, sliced
  • 500 ml water
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 40 ml lemon juice
  • 125 ml fresh coriander, chopped

Instructions

Marination

  • Combine steak, ginger, garlic, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, chilli powder, cumin seeds, and garam masala in a large bowl and mix well.
  • Stir in yoghurt and mix until the steak is well coated.
  • Cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
