Materials
- 6 cups stoned cherries or topped and tailed other berry fruits (blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries)
- 4 cups sugar
- 2 cups brandy
Instructions
- Prepare a large jar: Have a large, clean screw-top jar ready.
- Layer ingredients: Place the brandy and 1 cup of sugar in the jar along with 1 cup of the prepared fruit. Stir gently.
- Add remaining ingredients: Add the remaining sugar and fruit to the jar.
- Mix and store: Move the contents of the jar around gently each day for the first few days to help the sugar dissolve. Let the mixture stand for 1-2 months in a cool, dark place to allow the flavors to develop.
- Serve: This brandied fruit is described as “great over ice cream.”
